iOS 5.1 Jailbreak Release Update - Pod2g claims to have discovered 2 major vulnerabilities in iOS
Pod2g announced that he has discovered 2 major vulnerabilities in iOS firmware that could help the jailbreak community. Of the two, 1 venerability according to him is Kernel land and the other one is Root land. He also said that, he feels bad that he needs to keep it as a secret as Apple would patch it, even if they get a slightest clue of the security flaw.
Here's what Pod2g said:
News: a productive week-end. Found 2 big vulnerabilities. 1 kernel land and 1 root land. Too bad I have to be secret again...
Just before weekend, conducted a poll on whether to release the iOS 5,1 untether jailbreak or to keep it safe for iOS 6 release. The results were indicating that over 50,000 Apple enthusiasts want the jailbreak to be released asap.
Last week Pod2g was pretty active on twitter giving various updates about iOS 5.1 untether jailbreak progress. Pod2g earlier announced that ios 5.1 jailbreak is almost ready and the only challenge in creating a jailbreak was to bypass Apple's ASLR. Very soon we saw another update from Pod2g that he managed to bypass Apple's ASLR in order to jailbreak iOS 5.1. The next update from Pod2g was that although he has managed to bypass Apple' ASLR, there are certain pieces of puzzle that needs to be fixed. Once that is done a public release of iOS 5.1 jailbreak would be made. He informed that the jailbreak could be delayed/postponed for a month or two as too much works needs to be done.
