How To Downgrade iPhone3GS 6.15 Baseband Using Redsn0w

Having said that, today the iPhone Dev-Team proudly announced the release of updated Redsn0w that allows the users to downgrade their basebands. Since playing with basebands is not cool, we decided to prepare an easy to follow instructions guide to downgrade 6.15 baseband.
Update 2 : Happy Independence Day - New Updated Redsn0w Releasing Today
Steps To Downgrade iPhone3GS & 3G 6.15 Baseband
Step 1 : Download the latest version of Redsn0w and the current firmware of your device
Step 2 : Extract the contents of the Redsn0w archive that you just downloaded.
Step 3 : Connect your iPhone3GS or 3G and Launch Redsn0w.
(Windows7 users should select the option of running as administrator by right clicking on redsn0w application and then selecting the option - Run as administrator)
Step 4 : In the redsn0w, go to extras menu
Step 5 : From the extras menu, select 'Select IPSW' option
Step 6 : Navigate to the folder where you download the current firmware of your device and select the firmware and click open.
Step 7 : Click Ok to confirm the firmware selection
Step 8 : Select 'Yes' if your iPhone3GS is newer model or else select 'No'
Put your device into DFU mode
Step 9 : Now go back to the main menu and select the option 'Jailbreak'
Step 10 : The jailbreak process will begin and then Redsn0w will show more options where you need to select 'Downgrade From iPad Baseband' and then click next.
Step 11 : Put your device into DFU mode
- Power off the device completely
- Hold power button for 3 seconds
- without releasing the power button, press and hold home button for 10 seconds.
- Now release the power button and continue holding the home button .
Redsn0w will use limera1n to exploit your device to enter into pwndfu mode. Once done, continue with the steps. Redsn0w will now start processing your device's build
Step 13 : Your device should show some scrolling text and then you should be able to see the pineapple logo indicating 'Flashing Baseband (don't interrupt). Its serious, don't unplug or do anything stupid or you'll never be able to use your device again.
Step 14 : Once done, your iPhone will reboot and you should have 5.13.04 baseband.
Done!

After downgrading you need to install ultrasn0w from Cydia to get the signal

Having looked at various sites and blogs, it would appear that almost everyone with iphone 3gs with ios 4.2.1 is having problems and cannot downgrade BB.
Also most people who are reporting success seem to be on IOS= 5.1.1
No one can give a definite answer as to whether the phone should first be on 5.1.1 for BB downgrade to work correctly.
My phone is Iphone 3 gs (manufactured week 34 - 2010)
IOS = 4.2.1
BB = 6.15
I have tried about 10 times so far and every time the results are exactly the same; BB downgrade process starts with the walking pineapple logo and then phone re-boots itself and is till on 6.15. I even tried installing Ipad baseband again and then tried to downgrade it but to no avail.

There are issues downgrading baseband but before jumping on any conclusion, i'd suggest you to go through the update1 troubleshooting guide to check if you have followed everything

Nepalese Boy
Yes, perform a fresh restore, I've updated the post. Check the update above
Thank you n hope everything goes right way
does it works on iphone 3gs ios 4.3.5 tetherd jb
Tethered Jailbreak! Are you serious ?
Have you been sleeping all this time ??
You can update your iPhone to iOS 5.1.1 and jailbreak it using redsn0w , why stuck on tethered jailbreak still ?
:p
Step 1 : Use iTunes to restore stock Apple iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) IPSW.
I am already on 6.15 baseband (using 4.3.3 ios built with sn0wbreeze) is it okay for me to do a restore with stock apple ios 5.1.1 ???
my phone is hacktivated with sn0wbreeze.. if i install stock firmware the phone will get locked and my baseband chip will become unstable. reflashing with 6.15 will probably fix my unstable baseband chip but still i need to unlock. i have brought this phone from sweden and i dont have the original sim with me currently... i have hacktivated it and unlocked it with ipad baseband.. can you suggest steps proceeding with which i can downgrade baseband from 6.15 to 5.14?
I tried to skip the first few steps as I already had a jailbroked 5.1.1 using sn0wbreeze but kept getting "No Service". Tried again using ALL the steps and works perfectly. It may take a couple of minutes when flashing the baseband so don't panic. Thank you so much for this post.
Hey Guyz its kind of emulation... after downgrading my baseband from 6.15 to 5.13.0 from above tutorial on my iphone 3gs(new Bootrom) i tried iforecast it showed my bb 6.15 and bl 6.4.......
how long does it take to get past the 'flashing baseband (don't interupt)'??
For some it has even taken above 7mins..
If this does not work for you, I'd suggest you to wait until next week for Redsn0w Update
Check Update 1 Above
I have 3GS new bootrom 5.1.1. When I first tried to downgrade I ended up with 5.16 baseband. So I flashed the baseband again to 6.15 and tried to downgrade again and it worked like a charm. Next I installed ultrasn0w and boooom!! Unlock on 5.13.04. Musclenerd rocks!!
I have a 3GS 8GB with a SN of 87110xxx with a new bootROM (359.3.2 per redsn0w). I bought this phone very cheaply on eBay knowing that it might be bricked (IMEI = blanks, no Wi-FI and no Bluetooth) but expected that I would be able to use the new redsn0w to rollback the baseband and get it to work correctly. Can anyone verify whether it is possible to rollback the baseband with redsn0w for this phone? When I try to do a stock IOS 5.1.1 restore in iTunes it runs most of the way then consistently fails with "unknown error -1". I've tried the standard jailbreak/rollback the 6.15 baseband which didn't work and then installed the 6.15 baseband and then attempted the rollback which also didn't work.
No redsn0w cannot resurrect bricked iPhones, if you try to upgrade you baseband with the latest firmware it will fail. There is no way redsn0w can establish a contact with your device and that's the reason why you get iTunes restore error 1 and when you try to flash a firmware that is cooked with sn0wbreeze or redsn0w, your restore will be successful but there won't be any wifi, bluetooth or baseband info.
Hate to burst the bubble but at the moment there is no fix for such devices. Musclenerd from iPhone Dev-Team has also said that redsn0w cannot establish a contact with bricket devices.
Think about this - how can the downgrade process begin when there is no baseband info? logically its not possible unless the dev-team comes up with some marvelous idea.
Me sirve si tengo un 3Gs new bootrom con ipad baseband??? Pueod hacer downgrade con exito?
okay guys before i do it, i want to understand, my iphone 3gs is stuck at the activation screen after upgrading and restoring it to 5.1.1, so should i do the same process you guys are doing or there is another way? pliz help
I am having the same Issue as Mark. This is upsetting me because I was doing this jailbreak and unlock for someone else and now I have nothing to give them. Just an iPhone 3GS stuck in DFU mode after I try doing anything to it. I used a custom 5.1.1 IPSW and the phone comes up but absolutely nothing works and I get a message that the iPhone needs to be restored. Also the baseband comes up blank. Is there a way I can get this device to work at least? I dont even want it jailbroken.
Someone can help?
I have a 3GS USA NEWBOOT serial xx144xxx, and ios 6.0.1.
The SIMCARD isn't recognized with Brazil operator.
The oficial unlocked already done but still not working.
Today the baseband 06.15.00 is insatalled (I don't know why, because i read if this version is installed in newboot the iphone get brcked).
Is it possible change to 05.12.03 this iphone 3GS com baseband 06.15.00 with new boot?
Thanks
iphone 4s 64gb ios6 jailbreak not working.

There is no jailbreak available for ios 6 yet
Tried to downgrade my iPhone 3GS from iOS 6 to 5. While on the process, my computer crashed and the downgrade was interrupted. Now my iPhone is stuck to the "Connect to iTunes" logo and even if I try to download the iOS from iTunes, it will not let me or it will not finish.
Please help.
