Hidden Feature Of Jailbroken iPhones And iPads - Palm OS Like Safety Switch

Hidden Feature Of Jailbroken iPhones And iPads - Palm OS Like Safety Switch

chpwn-cydia-jailbreak

Prominent  jailbreak tweaks developer, chpwn has tweeted that he has discovered a safety switch in Jailbroken devices. According to Grant Paul aka chpwn, mobile substrate addon has a Palm OS inspired safety switch that disables extensions to run while rebooting. This will basically help you in identifying any problems in your device start up. This feature was incorporated by Cydia developer Jay Freeman Saurik.

If you want to experience the safety switch, all you have to do is press and hold the volume up button while your device is rebooting. This will disable all the Cydia tweaks and make your phone slightly faster but there's a catch. Enabling it will not start any Cydia tweak. In order to enable the tweaks, you'll have to reboot your device.

Apple Stole Noise Cancellation Feature - Noise Free Wireless Suing Apple

Apple Stole Noise Cancellation Feature - Noise Free Wireless Suing Apple
Apple-full2
Apple is known for protecting its intellectual property rights by dragging the violators to the courts of law and suing them and forcing a ban on those products that infringe its patented designs. According to Apple, its not just suing the competitors but protecting the intellectual property rights of Apple which is mandatory. Following the recent patent infringements by various Samsung products, Apple seems to have got quite a good hold with quality lawyers fighting against the bad guys. It was also heard that Google is uniting with Samsung to fight against Apple's law suits against Galaxy Nexus.

Seems like there is someone strong enough to bring Apple to the courts of law for stealing the design and technology. Noise Free Wireless has accused Apple of using (stealing) noise cancellation technology that is currently used in iPhones. It has filed a patent violation lawsuit against Apple for using its patented and copyrighted design for noise cancellation that was registered back in 2007 US Patent No. 7742790 The company claims that Apple stole the idea of noise cancellation which was once demonstrated by Noise free to Apple in September 2007.
"On further information and belief, Apple provided Audience with Noise Free's confidential trade secret information to assist Audience in delivering a noise cancellation solution that was similar and/or identical to the solution that Noise Free designed," the suit alleged.
Noise free claims that terms with Apple went very well and it was planned to add noise cancellation in the upcoming iPhones. Based on that, both the companies continued meeting even in 2008 and Noise free had even shared confidential data with Apple like the user guide on how to implement noise cancellation. Also, it had provided Apple with a fully functional circuit board along with a phone on which the technology was implemented. A documentation on technology was also shared with Apple.

Applepatents-lawsuits
According to Noise free, Apple had stopped communicating with Noise Free in 2009 and had conducted various unauthorized tests on the devices and had finally filed for a patent  for "User-specific noise suppression for voice quality improvements". Apple had re-designed the noise cancellation method used by Noise Free and implemented it in its own devices. Apple and Noise-Free continued talks until the latter discovered that Apple had chosen a different supplier for chip-set supplies.

In the complaint filed by Noise Free, Apple's iPhone4, iPhone4S and iPad, iPad2 and iPad3 along with iPod touch violates its patents and the complaint seeks courts help in granting Noise Free all those patents of Apple which are based on Noise-Free technology. Further more, it also seeks penalization for sharing trade confidential secrets against Apple.

Apple iPad Mini Rumors - Apple Asking Suppliers To Gear Up For Mass Production

Apple iPad Mini Rumors - Apple Asking Suppliers To Gear Up For Mass Production

iPad-mini

Earlier we shared that Apple is planning to launch a 7.85 inch iPad mini that will be competing with Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire. Bloomberg has also confirmed that Apple is indeed going to launch a new iPad which would be slightly smaller that the current iPad which is 9.7 inch diagonally. Apple is apparently going to launch the new iPad mini with a smaller screen size and will be using IGZO display which give high brightness in a thinner display.

The rumors are mounting up as the Wall street journal reported that Apple is telling its suppliers to be prepared for mass production that will supply Apple iPad mini's components. Apple's component suppliers for iPad mini are LG Display Co. and AU Optronics Co. The two companies are likely to be the suppliers for the new iPad mini that we might see in October this year.

It has also been rumored that the new iPad mini would be priced in between $199 - $299 that will be directly aiming at Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle. Apple's iPad has already conquered the tablet market globally and with iPad mini as an analyst said, would bring back Amazon's Kindle and Google's Nexus 7 to the point that they might expunge out just as in the case of iPad 2 and iPad 3. Apple's decision to go head on with Google seems like the differences between the two companies is filling in with competitive advantage over another.

Apple's Plea To Ban HTC Phones Denied - ITC Reject Emergency Ban On HTC Phones

Apple's Plea To Ban HTC Phones Denied - ITC Reject Emergency Ban On HTC Phones

Apple-HTC-Patent

Apple has recently won a big lawsuit filed against Samsung for infringement of Apple's Patents by blatantly copying not just the hardware of iPhone and iPad but also the UI and the extent of infrigement is that they even copied the packing and make the Samsung device look quite alot like that of Apple's iPad packing. The result is that Samsung Galaxy Tab is now banned in United States and that Samsung shall not promote any kind of selling of Galaxy tab in the United States which includes any kind of promotion or marketing.

Following victory over Samsung, Apple quickly filed a patent violation suit against HTC to ITC requesting for an emergency ban on its android devices. The patent violation with HTC devices is the use of Apple's data detectors patent which was earlier used in HTC android devices. However, HTC to avoid any damages, quickly responded by making the necessary changes. Despite the fact that HTC has changed the device, Apple still thinks that HTC is using data detectors that are patents of Apple. Apple's plea to ITC to inspect and impose an injunction over HTC android devices was not granted:

Here is what ITC Commisison said :
“The commission finds that Apple has not demonstrated the propriety of temporary emergency action here,” the agency reportedly said. “The commission will not direct Customs to detain all subject HTC products because the commission does not have the information necessary to determine whether the respondents are currently violating the commission’s limited exclusion order.”
The court has also ordered Apple and HTC to discuss the issue and that the talks will begin in late August. If Apple wins the injunction over HTC devices, it will adversely affect the sales of HTC as a majority of sales come from the United States and if the ban is imposed, HTC will have no good reason to survive with its most potential zone being lost. HTC have also reported that competition with iPhone4S was quite a challenging task and HTC faced heavy loss because of customers preferences shifting from HTC to Apple.

Food And Drink Category In AppStore Coming Soon - Apple's iOS 6 To Add More Categories In AppStore

Food And Drink Category In AppStore Coming Soon - Apple To Add More Categories In AppStore
AppStore-Food&Drink

Apple is planning to add new category of Apps in the iOS AppStore. Food and Drink is probably the new app's category that will be included soon in the iOS AppStore. iOS Application developers have already started receiving emails from Apple asking them to categorize their apps and if they have any related app to Food and Drink category it will automatically be moved to Food and Drink category if they don't take any action. Also, this will go live soon so developers have very little time to check their applications and get back to Apple if they do not want their applications to be moved.

The email from Apple to developers goes like this:
In the next fefw weeks, we'll be adding a Food & Drink category for apps that help users cook and backe, miz drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars and learn what their friends like to eat and drink. This category will not include diet, grocery shopping, coupon, clipping or food-related game apps.
We are contacting you because we think at least one of your apps fits in this new category. Unless you opt out by July8:

  • We will migrate your relevant apps to the new Food & Drink category.
  • Food & Drink will be assigned as the primary category for your apps.
If you have one or more apps that you want to staty in their current category, respond to this email with "NO" in the subject line, along with the following information for each app:
  • App name
  • Apple ID for your app. The Apple ID for apps can be found in the Manage Your Applications module on iTunes Connect.
Emails sent to other email addresses or without the requested information will not be processed.

Regards,
The App Store team
So if you are an Apple developer and have already received an email like this, you might want to respond to it before the end of this week if you want your app to stay where it is right now. Apple's plan to add the new category Food & Drink might soon be available for the public once it receives a nod from the developers. Moreover , iOS users will find is amazing to have a category of apps that will help them learn and improve their cooking and baking skills so they no longer have to go and attend the training sessions for such services.

As always we excited about the upcoming updates to iOS along with the big release of iOS6 that will be available soon.

Apple's iPad Dispute With Proview In China Setteled At 60 Million

Apple's iPad Dispute With Proview In China Setteled At 60 Million
Apple-iPAd-black-white
Associated press of China reports that Apple has agreed and settled iPad name dispute with Proview for 60 Million. Earlier before iPad, Apple had purchased the iPad name from Proview under Shell company. However, the name 'iPad' was never officially granted to Apple to be used in China. Finally both the parties have mutually agreed that Apple would pay 60 million to Proview for using the brand name iPad in China although the amount seems quite huge compared to the rumored amount of 16 million.

If Apple were to lose the right over using the name iPad for branding, marketing and sales of iPad then the cost of marketing and promoting a new name would cost Apple much more than 60 million so it seems like an opportunity cost for Apple to let go some amount to avoid big loss.

With the dispute finally settled, we can expect Apple to begin its iPad sales in China at large. With the new iOS6 and Apple's decision to add baidu as default search engine for Chinese devices, it is very clear that Apple is very interested in the Chinese market and will be investing more in the country which assemblies world's best smartphones and tablets.

Apple Replaces iPhone5.com Whois Details - Technical And Administrative Details Changed

Apple Replaces iPhone5.com Whois Details - Technical And Administrative Details Changed

Earlier we shared that Apple has filed an intellectual property right cased against iPhone5.com domain probably for the upcoming iPhone launch which is rumored to happen in September. Apple has previously purchased related domains from their respective owners during the launch of iPhone4 and iPhon4S. This time Apple played it in a different way. Apple's request to seek the control of iPhone5.com domain was fulfilled and very soon Apple got control over iPhone5.com. Apple din't have to pay anything to iPhon5.com owners and the site was very soon pulled down and the content was removed.

iPhone5.com was previously owned by individual group of Apple enthusiasts who started a forum discussing about various iPhone5 rumors which included images and expected specifications of the upcoming smartphone from Apple. As soon as Apple got control over the domain, the content from the webpage was pulled and all we could see was blank page.  Today the status of the website is completely down and the webpage iPhone5.com doesn't load.

Interesting, isn't it ? We have checked the whois details of iPhone5.com and to our surprise, Apple has updated the Administrative and Technical contact details along with the DNS server list. Below is the screenshot of whois details of iPhone5.com which has been taken over by Apple. It seems that Apple indeed has plans of releasing iPhone5 and is working on it.

Apple To Add Retina Display In Upcoming MacBook Air - Unveil It During WWDC12

Apple To Add Retina Display In Upcoming MacBook Air - Unveil It During WWDC12

MacBook Air

Macbook air retina display
9to5mac reports that Apple is planning to add Retina Display in MacBook Air. Here's what 9to5Mac posted on Retina Displays coming to MacBook Airs.
Apple’s new MacBook Air will not see major changes across the entire computer like the next-generation MacBook Pro, but this update will truly be all about the Retina Display.
Apple is preparing both new 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch models. These new Airs lack notable design changes, but feature fast and power-efficient Ivy Bridge processors and improved graphics engines to support the Retina Display, according to supply chain sources. The new Airs will also use improved Apple internal battery technology in order to support the battery life required by high-pixel-density screens such as the Retina Display, according to sources familiar with prototype versions of the super-thin notebook’s internal components.

It has hardly been an year when Apple initially launched MacBook Air. The design has raised a serious challange to Apple competitors on how to compete with Apple's sleek yet Powerful MacBook Air which is slightly thinner when compared to your thumb. The new MacBook Air is supposedly sheduled to launch somewhere in September.

Apple's plan to introduce Retina Display in MacBook Air shouldn't come as a surprise as Apple has adopted a policy of competing against itself to achieve more. Apple's launching of Macbook air with Retina Display would be a challenge that the company needs to take as Retina dsiplay are costlier when comapared to the normal one. Besides, launching of Macbook Air with Retina Display will not only put Apple far ahead of notebook competition but will also bring huge sales and revenue as those Apple users which have already used Retina Display on their iPhones and iPads would definately want to have a mac with the same retina display.

According to sources, Apple is planning to reveal the new Macbook Air during the upcoming World Wide Developers Conference WWDC12 in the second weeek of June.

We are very excited for WWDC12, there are also rumors that Appple is planning to launch the next generation iPhone 5 during this event.

iPad Revenue To Increase As Apple Readies Next Generation iPhone And Mac Books

iPad Revenue To Increase As Apple Readies Next Generation iPhone And Mac Books

Apple's iPads are selling like hot cakes. With in 10 days of its launch, Apple had sold 3 million units of iPads. iPads are generating a huge income to Apple and its stake holders. It is estimated that iPad will contunue reaping profits for the next two quarters while Apple prepares to launch next-generation iPhone and MacBooks.

The above estimation could be plausible as Apple is launching iPad in almost evey popular city of the World. Apple's market is growing stronger day by day and the credit goes to the new iPad which features Retina Display which gives an amazing UI to play with, hi quality texture and crispier text. Retina Display Enhances the photo and video viewing experience.

"We continue to believe that the iPad will cannibalize PC sales and do not believe that Apple needs to launch a compromised “hybrid” product of a Mac with a detachable screen. We believe iPad users will increasingly “dock” iPads to keyboards," - Ben Reitzes (Barclays Capital analyst)

Reitzes refers to recent online rumors that Apple may be looking to create a product to compete against new Windows 8 devices that merge tablet and laptop form factors. The rumors were shot down by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who said during the company's second quarter earnings conference call that while such product was possible, the compromises would outweigh the benefits.

"You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but you know, those things are probably not going to be pleasing to the user," Tim Cook

Apple's upcoming product line would be very challenging task as competitors are getting smarter by launching laptops that are ultra thin just like MacBook Air and smartphones packed with amazing featureslike Samsung Galaxy S3.

Apple Jumps Up To 17 Position In Fortune's 500 List

Apple Climbs From #35 to #17 In Fortune 500 Ranking

Apple (AAPL) had an amazing year of 2011 that made it the world's most valuable with its market revenue and share capital that is next to Microsoft. The expansive growth of Apple has pushed it into the top 20 of the 2012 Fortune 500 list of America's largest corporations.  Apple had one of the biggest jumps on the list, with its record-breaking final three months of 2011 helping push it from No. 35 to No. 17. Apple is followed by  CVS Caremark ,  International Business Machines and  Citigroup in 18, 19, 20 position respectively.

Fortune ranks America's best and strong companies every year and release the list of Top 500 Fortune Companies. Fortune has released its 2012 Fortune 500 list ranking America's best companies by their revenue and progressive growth. Apple's strong growth has landed Apple in 17th Rank which is a big change compared to last year's 35. Apple's market share capital has been all time high with $600 Billion and share value of Apple shares has crossed Google's share price for the first time due to large sales world wide and the huge demand for iPads and iPhones globally. Apple's fiscal year reports a surplus of 100 Billion which Apple decided to invest for future. The strong and competent growth of Apple will definatelyy change the Fortune 500 rank next year moving from 17.

Apple has suffered a great loss by losing Steve Jobs at the pinnacle of Company's success. Time Cook the present CEO took the charge and he's very responsible of his duties and proved the very basic principle of Business - Business Should Be Treated As Different From Business Man. Although company lost Steve Jobs, it continued performing exceptionally well and jumped to #17 in Fortune 500. Apple doubled its earnings per share in 2011, compared to 2010. That helped nudge management to announce plans for the firm's first dividend since 1995, returning some of the $97.6 billion in cash it had accumulated. Apple fans and analysts alike also continue to await a long-rumored television set from the gadget maker.Apple's 2011 profits of $25.9 billion led the company to a new high as the third most profitable company behind energy giants Exxon Mobil ($41.6 billion) and Chevron ($26.9 billion). Microsoft sits in fourth place with profits of $23.2 billion.

Apple Likely To Launch $799 Macbook Air Later In Third Quarter

New MacBook Air Likely To Hit In Q3 This Year Competing With Intel's UltraBook

Apple is planning to launch a Macbook Air that will be priced at $799 somewhere in third Quarter this year. The sudden $200 drop is in response to compete with Intel's Ultrabook that is manufacturing low cost ultrathin notebook PCs reports Digitimes
Although Acer has recently reduced its ultrabook shipment target, Intel continues to aggressively push ultrabooks and is aiming to have the devices priced at US$699 in the second half of the year. However, if Intel is unable to bring down ASPs to its goal, the price gap between ultrabooks and the US$799 MacBook Air may further postpone the time ultrabooks become standardized, the sources noted - Digitimes
Laptop manufacturers are trying to compete with Apple's Macbook Air in design and cost. Intel's persistent attempt to bring prices down without compromising the quality of service is making Apple to think about launching a cheaper version of MacBook Air.

Its going to be quite a challenging task for Apple to have a $200 price cut on the MacBook Air. Apple adopts a very limited flexibility when it comes to bringing down prices and by looking at the currect performance of Macbook Airs and Macbook Pro which are performing exceptionally well and generating huge revenue to Apple, its a tough call for Apple to make in order to increase the sales of Macbooks.

Apple Files A complaint To Gain Control Of iPhone5.com - iPhone5.com Apple's Intellectual Property

Apple Files A Claim To Control iPhone5.com Domain - Likely To Name The Next iPhone as iPhone 5

Fusible reports that Apple has filed an intellectual property claim with world Intellectual Property Organization to gain control of the domain iPhone5.com. This website is basically a small forum to discuss about the rumors of upcoming iPhone, in this case iPhone 5 as this domain was acquired in October 2010 after the release of iPhone 4. Seems like Apple is going to name the next iPhone as iPhone 5 and hence they are starting to work on the brand name.

i Phone 5 launch apple

Apple iPhone5 launch

Before the release of iPhone 4S, there were many rumors that Apple will name the iPhone as iPhone 5 while some where of the opinion that the name would be simply iPhone 4S. Eventually the name turned out to be iPhone 4S. The same thing happened with the new iPad. People thought that the name for the next generation iPad would be iPad 3 but it turned out to be 'The New iPad'. Now that Apple is on its way to release a new iPhone, the speculations and rumors have started all over again. People now think that the name for the new iPhone would be simply 'The New iPhone' inspired from the original iPhone. Lets wait and watch.

Apple usually obtains the domain names after it launches a product which would ensure no disclosure of upcoming releases. Apple took control of iPhone4.com 1 yeah after the launch of  iPhone 4 and Apple didn't gain control of iPhone4S.com until several weeks after that device launched in October.

Scott Forstall - Senior Vice President Of Apple Sells 64,151 Shares Worth $38.7 Million

Apple's SVP, Scott Forstall Sold 64,151 Shares Worth $38.7 Million

Often considered as the successor of Steve Jobs and Tim Cook, Scott Forstall the senior vice president of Apple SVP has sold a major portion of his shares, taking the advantage of Apple's healthy stock value. Scott Forstall sold 64,151 shares at a price ranging in between $601 to $605. His 64,151 shares summed to $38.7 Million. Forstall still has 2,988 shares the current price of which is $1.8 Million.

This doesn't mean that Scott Forstall is planning to quit Apple, its just that he grabbed an apple at the right moment. According to Fortune, these shares were the remains of a 120,000-share retention bonus that was granted in 2008, vested last month and reduced by 55,849 shares on March 24 to pay taxes.

Although the sale represented 95% of Forstall's current Apple holdings, that doesn't mean he's getting ready to leave the company. He has two more retention bonuses in the wings:
  • 100,000 restricted stock units (RSUs) that were granted in 2010 and vest in 2014
  • 150,000 RSUs granted in 2011 that vest in equal parts in 2013 and 2016, provided he stays with the company
