How To Jailbreak iPhone 4S Using Absinthe Jailbreak

Jailbreaking iPhone 4S  5.0/5.0.1 With Absinthe On Windows

There are two methods of jailbreaking iPhone 4S on 5.0 or 5.0.1 firmware for windows. The first one is the command line method released by the iPhone Dev-Team and the second one is the Absinthe jailbreak tool that was released by Chronic Dev-Team. We will discuss the second, Absinthe method as command line method is not suggestible for users new to jailbreaking.

Please take a back up of your iPhone data as you might lose your photos. So just to be on the safe side, you can restore from the back up in case you lose your photos. You can follow this post to back up your iPhone data. Otherwise proceed with the instructions below to jailbreak your iPhone 4S.

Step 1: Download the latest version of Absinthe

Step 2: Connect your iPhone 4S to the computer and launch Absinthe. Please make sure to remove any password lock if you have along with the vpn settings if you had configured them at all.

Step 3: Click on the jailbreak button in Absinthe and the jailbreak process will begin. Do you interrupt the jailbreak progress and wait for it to complete.

Step 4: After a while Absinthe will inform you that jailbreak is almost done.

Step 5: From the springboard, launch Absinthe to complete the jailbreak process. Once done, your device will reboot and you should now see Cydia on your springboard which means your iPhone 4S jailbreak was successful.

iOS 5.1 and iPad 3 - Another Jailbreak By iPhone Dev-Team

iPhone Dev-Team Confirms Third Jailbreak For iOS 5,1 And iPad 3 - That's 3 jailbreaks In  A Row

Musclenerd from the iPhone Dev-Team  has just shared the pics of his excellent work. Musclenerd has shared the pics of his jailbroken iPad running on iOS 5.1. That makes total of three untethered jailbreak avaiable for iOS 5.1. Musclenerd made it very clear that the jailbreak for iOS 5 and the new iPad is still in raw stage and there is no ETA on when the jailbreak would be publicly available. The following pics of jailbroken iPad 3 running on iOS 5.1 were shared by Musclenerd.

The other two jailbreak methods were demonstrations were made by i0n1c and chpwn and phoenixdev earlier.

 Chpwn (Grant Paul)and Phoenixdev (Paul Griffin) Demonstrate a New iPad 3 Jailbreak On iOS 5.1


Its raining jaibreaks! After i0n1c Cydia developers Chpwn and Phoenixdev have also demonstrated a new jailbreak on iOS 5.1 running on the new iPad 3. Chpwn tweeted the following :

   iPhone Dev Team Talks About iOS 5.1 Jailbreak And iPad 3

Dev-Team made a post on their blog talking about the New iPad fever and how apple fans are lining up to get the first look of the new iPad. Ironic but Dev-Team calls the New iPad as iPad 3. Hmm, interesting. Apart from the iPad fever, Dev-Team also mentioned that the jailbreak which worked on iPad 2 will also work on the new iPad 3. He has also mentioned that i0n1c has successfully jailbreaked his iPad 2 on iOS 5.1. Apparently there is one more jailbreak that is being worked on. This is what the Blog says:

• We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago (before corona) still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
• Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!
• We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.

So there are 3 methods of jailbreak under process and there is one more on which @pod2g is working on. The bottom line for the iPad users is not to update their new iPad beyond 5.1 or whatever iOS it comes shipped with.


Seems like the jailbreak for iOS 5.1 will be a nightmare for Apple..

iPhone Hacker Geohot Arrested For Possessing Marijuana While En Route To SXSW

iPhone Hacker Geohot Arrested For Possessing Marijuana

George Hotz aka Geohot was arrested and charged with felony charges for possessing marijuana while en route to SXSW. Geohot was on his way for an interview and when the drug dogs started barking at his car, cops had to pull over his car for further checking. 

George apparently had 1/4 oz. of marijuana and chocolate edibles equivalent to less than 1/8 oz of the drug in the car glove box. 

Hotz was booked for a felony and posted $1,500 The local sheriff valuated the weight of the entire chocolate as the weight of the pot at $800 instead of the $15 that Hotz paid for it. According to Musclenerd,  Hotz made it to the interview inspite of his arrest for possessing marijuana.

For those who don't know, Geohot was the first to hack into an iPhone and to successfully jailbreak an iPhone and his bootrom level exploit is still being used by The iPhone Dev Team to make tethered jailbreaks.

Seems like Geohot a not just a hacker but a naughty hacker :)
