Next Generation iPhone Adopt In-Touch Panels - Digitimes

According to Digitimes, the next Apple iPhone would use Touch Panels manufactured by Sharp and Toshiba.

An improvement in yield rates of the in-cell touch panels at Sharp and TMD has persuaded Apple to choose to cooperate with Japan-based panel makers. Sharp will produce the in-cell panels at its 5.5G lines, while TMD will utilize its 6G lines for production, indicated the sources, adding that the two makers will begin to ramp up in-cell panel production in the second quarter of 2012. - Digitimes

We might see a different display in the new iPhone 5 which should keep up the brand standard with the Hi-Res Retina Display and crispier text, not to mention the stunning gaming experience.

According to CNET - In-cell multitouch technology integrates touch into the thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD manufacturing process, obviating the need for additional sensors and glass. This reduces the weight of the device, among other benefits.

To wrap up the topic, Apple is testing new display for the upcoming iPhone 5 which could likely release after the WWDC event, somewhere in June just like the release of its predecessor iPhone 4S.

Retina Display Macs And iMacs Coming Soon

Speculations Based Upon The New iPad's Retina Display - What Can We Expect In Future Macs

Earlier this month Apple released The New iPad which features the stunning Hi-Res Retina Display. That makes it the second most successful product that Apple has ever launched. What attracts the buyers is the HiDPI that makes the text on these devices crispier and images brighter and beautiful. With the iPad featuring retina display it wouldnt come as suprise if the future apple products like the mac book pro and mac book air will feature a hi-res Retina Display.

Lets have a look at Apples HiDPI assuming that there the Retina Display Macs should not only have better battery but also better GPU power. The image with HiDPI is clear and the text appears crispier which makes the entire screen look absolutely stunning.

Lets have a look at the current Display Matrix of Apple Products:

If Apple were to introduce the Hi-Res Retina Display, the key places to focus at would be :

• Display : Obviously a Hi-Res and better quality display close to Retina - Display
• Battery : If apple were to add retina display then the batter need a lot of improvement.
• Weight : The weight of the new iPad was more because of the retina display, apple needs to work on maintaining the same weight as mac books are already sturdy and quite heavy. 
• Heat : The New iPad is having heat issues. Users have complained that while using the new iPad gets hot more often than compared to the iPad 2. Apple should make sure that the mac books shouldnt heat much as that could cause in overheating of the laptops.
• Ram :Retina Display not only requires better ram but a faster GPU to render images and texture for retina display. So, if Apple were to introduce Mac Book Pro or Mac Book Air with Retina Display then they need to make sure that the Ram and the GPU is powerful enough to make the Retina Display as magical as it is supposed to be.

Along with the new iPad, Apple released the new iOS 5.1 with loads of updates and a new add on app for the iOS devices. iPhoto became a huge success for Apple with monetary terms and with regards to customer satisfaction.  We have previously discussed and reviewed iPhoto for iPhone and iPad and discussed its over all benefits from the user perspective.

The news is that iPhoto has bagged apple $5 million and is still selling as hot cakes. There were over a million downloads in the first 10 days of the launch of this application. iPhoto is integrated into Macs and this is the first time that Apple thought of getting a mac application to the iOS.

Apple Sold 3 Million iPads Sales Since March 16 Launch

Apple Recorded A New Milstone Selling 3 Million iPads, That's 18 iPads In A Minute Since Launch

Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the new iPad broke records during a conference call today. However, Cook didn't give out any numbers. Apple claims that this is the most successful launch ever for the iPad.  Here is what Apple has to say about the new iPad sales:

CUPERTINO, California―March 19, 2012―Apple® today announced it has sold three million of its incredible new iPad®, since its launch on Friday, March 16. The new iPad features a stunning new Retina™ display, Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics, a 5 megapixel iSight® camera with advanced optics for capturing amazing photos and 1080p HD video, and still delivers the same all-day 10 hour battery life* while remaining amazingly thin and light. iPad Wi-Fi + 4G supports ultrafast 4G LTE networks in the US and Canada, and fast networks around the world including those based on HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA.** 

Here is what SVP Philip Schiller has to say:

“The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can't wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.” 

Apple has also confirmed that the new iPad will be launched in more countries by 23 March. The countried include  Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. 

The new iPad is available in both WiFi and WiFi + 4G models.

Earlier this month Apple CEO Tim Cook released the New iPad with a powerful processor and Hi-Res Retina Display. The new iPad is on sale from 16th March and while some power users have managed to tear down to check the hardware, others have compared the performance of the new iPad with its competitors. In this post we'll be comparing Apple's New iPad with Asus's Transformer Prime.

GLBenchmarrk 2.1 

In GLBenchmark 2.1, is a benchmark that tests the quality of gaming, navigation and user interface. The New iPad scored higher. On the program’s Egypt Standard test, which shows a 3D animation of ancient Egypt, the new iPad and its A5X chip processed 6718 frames at a rate of 60 frames-per-second to the Transformer Primer’s 5,939 frames at 53 fps.

Geometric test

The new iPad was way ahead of transformer prime when it came to Geometric test (vertex weighted), which measures low-level shader performance. It processed 7,530,524 frames at a rate of 57 fps while the Tegra 3-based Transformer Prime processed just 3,523,926 at a rate of 27 fps.

Fill Test

During the Fill test, which measures texturing speed, the iPad processed 1.98 billion textels per second to the Prime's 404.61 million. That shows the power of Retina Display.

Gaming Performance

Gaming performance cannot be compared because there is no such benchmark that checks and rates the quality of texture in gaming like FRAPS does for Windows. However a video showcasing both the tablets playing the same game side by side is quite clear but it is very hard to say which device is better when it comes to texture quality.

Apple Lists Retina - Enabled Apps On iTunes For The New iPad

iTunes Lists Retina - Display Optimized Apps For iPad 

Apple has added a new section in the iTunes with the title Great Apps For You iPad. Apple will be launching the new iPad today and the apple retail stores will open as early as 8:00 AM for the launch of the new iPad. Apple fans have already started lining up in front of the stores to get the first touch and feel of the new iPad. 

The reason for listing the apps that are ready to go with the Retina Display of the new iPad is the high resolution and the texture clarity that the new iPad owners would be looking in for. The apps listed in iTunes have a full resolution of 2048X1536. To make it easier, Apple posted a new section on iTunes that lists Retina-ready apps recently updated to take full advantage of the retina display. There are about 30 apps listed in the apps for your iPad section, some of which include “Tweetbot,” “Skitch,” “Infinity Blade II,” and “Sky Gamblers.” We are certain that most of the developers have already begun improving their existing apps to support the retina display of the new iPad.
