Apple's iPad Mini With IGZO 7.85 Display For $200-$300 Arriving In Summer

Apple's iPad Mini With IGZO 7.85 Display For $200-$300 Arriving In Summer

With Apple there are always rumors before the release of every new product or occurence of any event. This time it is for iPad Mini. It has been rumored that since Google has launched a 7 inch Nexu7 tablet to compete with Amazon's Kindle Fire, its seems pretty reasonable that Apple might launch one too. To gain more control over tablet market, Apple might launch a mini iPad version to attract those consumers who are willing to spend less on a tablet.

Mini-iPad-igzo-display

MyDrivers.com has confirmed that Apple will indeed launch a 7.85 inch iPad later this year with a IGZO Display - Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide that will give a thinner and brighter display. The thinkness of the mini iPad is likely to be of the same thinkness as iPad 2 and the new iPad. Earlier, it was rumored that Apple would be using these IGZO displyas in The New iPad3 but apprently these were not ready by that time.

Digitimes also reports that Apple might replac the current iPad display with IGZO but have considered that the news to be unreliable. Don't put your hope on this one until you hear more about it. If at all Apple launches an iPad with smaller display, will it be supporting GSM carrier ? Nothing can be said right now and even if its going to be a GSM iPad then its very likely to be locked on specific carriers like AT&T.

Apple's iPad Dispute With Proview In China Setteled At 60 Million

Apple's iPad Dispute With Proview In China Setteled At 60 Million
Apple-iPAd-black-white
Associated press of China reports that Apple has agreed and settled iPad name dispute with Proview for 60 Million. Earlier before iPad, Apple had purchased the iPad name from Proview under Shell company. However, the name 'iPad' was never officially granted to Apple to be used in China. Finally both the parties have mutually agreed that Apple would pay 60 million to Proview for using the brand name iPad in China although the amount seems quite huge compared to the rumored amount of 16 million.

If Apple were to lose the right over using the name iPad for branding, marketing and sales of iPad then the cost of marketing and promoting a new name would cost Apple much more than 60 million so it seems like an opportunity cost for Apple to let go some amount to avoid big loss.

With the dispute finally settled, we can expect Apple to begin its iPad sales in China at large. With the new iOS6 and Apple's decision to add baidu as default search engine for Chinese devices, it is very clear that Apple is very interested in the Chinese market and will be investing more in the country which assemblies world's best smartphones and tablets.

iPad Revenue To Increase As Apple Readies Next Generation iPhone And Mac Books

iPad Revenue To Increase As Apple Readies Next Generation iPhone And Mac Books

Apple's iPads are selling like hot cakes. With in 10 days of its launch, Apple had sold 3 million units of iPads. iPads are generating a huge income to Apple and its stake holders. It is estimated that iPad will contunue reaping profits for the next two quarters while Apple prepares to launch next-generation iPhone and MacBooks.

The above estimation could be plausible as Apple is launching iPad in almost evey popular city of the World. Apple's market is growing stronger day by day and the credit goes to the new iPad which features Retina Display which gives an amazing UI to play with, hi quality texture and crispier text. Retina Display Enhances the photo and video viewing experience.

"We continue to believe that the iPad will cannibalize PC sales and do not believe that Apple needs to launch a compromised “hybrid” product of a Mac with a detachable screen. We believe iPad users will increasingly “dock” iPads to keyboards," - Ben Reitzes (Barclays Capital analyst)

Reitzes refers to recent online rumors that Apple may be looking to create a product to compete against new Windows 8 devices that merge tablet and laptop form factors. The rumors were shot down by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who said during the company's second quarter earnings conference call that while such product was possible, the compromises would outweigh the benefits.

"You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but you know, those things are probably not going to be pleasing to the user," Tim Cook

Apple's upcoming product line would be very challenging task as competitors are getting smarter by launching laptops that are ultra thin just like MacBook Air and smartphones packed with amazing featureslike Samsung Galaxy S3.

Microsoft Invests $300 Million In Barnes And Noble's Nook To Compete Against Apple And Amazon

Microsoft And Barnes Announced Strategic Partnership To Compete Against Apple And Amazon

Last week we discussed that Apple is growing strong and the only competitor that was stronger than Apple was Microsoft. Apple was closing in to defeat Microsoft's market capital which is $619 Billion. Apple's market investment has crossed the milestone of $600 Billion this month.

The Big news today is that Microsoft has made an announcement that the firm would be investing $300 Million in Barnes And Noble' Nook business to compete against Apple and Amazon in e-reader market. With $300 Million investment, Microsoft will gain 17.6% in the new company which is valued at $1.7 Billion. Barnes & Noble is planning to start a new business in e-reading device targeting basically the iPad and Kindle users. The name for the new company has not been finalized so as of now, they are referring it as 'Newco'

Microsoft with this strategic partnership with Barnes & Noble aims to compete against Amazon's Kindle and Apple's iPad in e-reading business. Its surprising that Microsoft once sued Barnes & Noble for using Android as its e-reader platform. However, according to the news, the issue has now been settled.

Here's what Microsoft said:
“The formation of Newco and our relationship with Microsoft are important parts of our strategy to capitalize on the rapid growth of the NOOK business, and to solidify our position as a leader in the exploding market for digital content in the consumer and education segments,” said William Lynch, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “Microsoft’s investment in Newco, and our exciting collaboration to bring world-class digital reading technologies and content to the Windows platform and its hundreds of millions of users, will allow us to significantly expand the business.”
Complete Press Report :

New York, NY and Redmond, WA (April 30, 2012) – Barnes & Noble Inc. (NYSE: BKS) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) today announced the formation of a strategic partnership in a new Barnes & Noble subsidiary, which will build upon the history of strong innovation in digital reading technologies from both companies. The partnership will accelerate the transition to e-reading, which is revolutionizing the way people consume, create, share and enjoy digital content.

The new subsidiary, referred to in this release as Newco, will bring together the digital and College businesses of Barnes & Noble. Microsoft will make a $300 million investment in Newco at a post-money valuation of $1.7 billion in exchange for an approximately 17.6% equity stake. Barnes & Noble will own approximately 82.4% of the new subsidiary, which will have an ongoing relationship with the company’s retail stores. Barnes & Noble has not yet decided on the name of Newco.

One of the first benefits for customers will be a NOOK application for Windows 8, which will extend the reach of Barnes & Noble’s digital bookstore by providing one of the world’s largest digital catalogues of e-Books, magazines and newspapers to hundreds of millions of Windows customers in the U.S. and internationally.

The inclusion of Barnes & Noble’s College business is an important component of Newco’s strategic vision. Through the newly formed Newco, Barnes & Noble’s industry leading NOOK Study software will provide students and educators the preeminent technology platform for the distribution and management of digital education materials in the market.

“The shift to digital is putting the world’s libraries and newsstands in the palm of every person’s hand, and is the beginning of a journey that will impact how people read, interact with, and enjoy new forms of content,” said Andy Lees, President at Microsoft. “Our complementary assets will accelerate e-reading innovation across a broad range of Windows devices, enabling people to not just read stories, but to be part of them. We’re at the cusp of a revolution in reading.”

Barnes & Noble and Microsoft have settled their patent litigation, and moving forward, Barnes & Noble and Newco will have a royalty-bearing license under Microsoft’s patents for its NOOK eReader and Tablet products. This paves the way for both companies to collaborate and reach a broader set of customers.

Newco

On January 5, Barnes & Noble announced that it was exploring the strategic separation of its digital business in order to maximize shareholder value. Barnes & Noble is actively engaged in the formation of Newco, which will include Barnes & Noble’s digital and College businesses. The company intends to explore all alternatives for how a strategic separation of Newco may occur. There can be no assurance that the review will result in a strategic separation or the creation of a stand-alone public company, and there is no set timetable for this review. Barnes & Noble does not intend to comment further regarding the review unless and until a decision is made.

Additional information will be contained in a Current Report on Form 8-K to be filed by Barnes & Noble.

Barnes & Noble and Microsoft will host an investor call and webcast beginning at 8:30 A.M. ET on Monday, April 30, 2012. To join the webcast, please visit: www.barnesandnobleinc.com/webcasts

iPad And Environment - How Green Is An iPad

iPad And How It Effects The Environment

This post is all about iPad reacts with the environment and its effects on the nature that surrounds us. This article is specifically aimed for those individuals and business concerns who are involve themselves in saving the nature and environment. The broad picture of an iPad would be that it is completely safe and if compared with the competitors Apple's iPad contributes nothing but happy smiles to the nature.

Lets have a look:
Specifically, the CO2 emissions from one iPad equal the CO2 output of a 515-mile drive. And the new iPad is responsible for more CO2 emissions than its older brothers: The original iPad averaged 130 kg of CO2, and the iPad 2 averaged 105 kg. The new iPad emits 180 kg of C02. When you average out the emissions from all 55 million iPads sold (7,590,000 kg CO2), it equals the emissions of 1.2 million cars in one year. - iClarified

Apple Sends Refund Details To The New iPad 3 Customers

iPad 3 Customers Not Happy With The Fact That iPad 3 Does Not Support 4G In Australia

A week ago we discussed that The New iPad 3 customers of Australia were unhappy to know the fact that the New iPad 3 will not support 4G LTE connectivity in Australia. Many Australian customers bought the iPad under the impression that it will work on 4G network across Autralia. The reason for this misunderstanding was the apple ad banner. Lets have a look at it:

iPad refund offer

The ACCC alleges that Apple’s recent promotion of the new “iPad with WiFi + 4G” is misleading because it represents to Australian consumers that the product “iPad with WiFi + 4G” can, with a SIM card, connect to a 4G mobile data network in Australia, when this is not the case.

Based on the following incident, Apple has started sending out emails to those iPad 3 customers of Australia who think the ad was misleading and they have been provided instructions in the email on how to get a refund for the new iPad 3. We have a screen shot of the email that is being sent over to the Australian iPad 3 customers.

apple to refund iPad customers of Australia

So the news is that iPad 3 owners who purchased the new iPad on or before 28th March 2012 on the basis that it would work on Australian 4G networks may return their undamaged iPad 3 for a full refund before 25th of April. It has been clearly mentioned that the iPad works only on WiFi network. This offer is in response to the Australian owners complaining that the advertisement was misleading and that they though the new iPad 3 would work on Australian 4G LTE networks just as it works on US 4G LTE networks.

High School Kids Use iPhones 3 Times More Than The General Population

High School Kids Use iPhones 3 Times More Than Adults Do

According to a survey conducted by Piper Jaffray of 5,600 U.S. high school students, 34% of own an iPhone, an all-time high in the survey and double the percentage seen just a year ago. Furthermore, 40% of surveyed students indicated that they intend to purchase an iPhone within the next six months.

how to
"In our most recent survey the percentage of teens that own an iPhone came in at 34%, up from 23% in the Fall and 17% last Spring. We believe the meaningful uptick in iPhone ownership among teens may be driven by the cheaper $49 iPhone 3GS (in some cases free). Interest in purchasing an iPhone in the next 6 months rose to 40% (another all-time high vs. our previous surveys). Purchase intent was at 38% in our last survey in the Fall."

iphone for students

In our Spring 2012 survey, 34% of students owned a tablet computer (same percentage as iPhones), up from 29% in Fall 2011 and 22% last Spring. Of those tablet owners, 70% owned iPads, 19% owned Android tablets, and 11% owned Kindle Fires. 53% of iPad owners also owned an iPhone, demonstrating the halo effect of entry devices like the iPhone.

Seems like apple did revolutionized the entire PC era into a post PC era where smart phones and tablets are used more than computers and tablets.
